PEO
In today’s fast-paced business environment, businesses need to focus on their core competencies—not employee management details. Attention to these details, however, is important because it mitigates risk to the corporation and its employees. That’s why an increasing number of organizations are turning to Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs).
What is a PEO?
PEOs enable clients to cost-effectively outsource the management of Human Resources, Employee Benefits, Payroll, and Workers’ Compensation so that the client can focus on operational concerns and their bottom line. On average, utilizing the services of a PEO can reduce payroll expenses by 30%. A PEO will help employers reduce the risk connected with employer liability while ensuring that the obligations towards employees are met.
How does the PEO/client relationship work?
A PEO enters into a co-employer relationship with clients, which allows them to share and manage many employer-related liabilities, responsibilities, and risks, and to address many employee concerns. Each party (PEO and client of PEO) is responsible for certain employment obligations and shares responsibility for other employment obligations. Staff members become employees of two employers: the client organization retains supervision for production or delivery of service and the PEO assumes responsibility for human resources and personnel services.
